Stanley “Bert” Strycharz, 99, a longtime Wilbraham resident, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2023, with his family by his side. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary, in 1993 after 45 years of marriage. He was a graduate of Trade High School, Springfield. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps, and served in WWII. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church of Indian Orchard. He worked as a Head Custodian for over 30 years at Minnechaug Regional High School. He was a charter member of the Polish American Veterans’ Club of Wilbraham. He was an avid candlepin bowler, loved gardening, as well as trips to the casino.
He is survived by his daughter, Margaret “Peggy” Boduch and her husband, Michael, of Wilbraham, a son, Gregory Strycharz and his wife, Lisa, of Westfield. He also leaves behind grandchildren: Eric Boduch of North Carolina, Keri Lee of Wilbraham, Christopher Strycharz of Westfield and Becca Tucker of South Carolina, as well as his great-grandchildren: Madison, Olivia, Abigail, Zachary and Matthew. He will be missed by all who knew him and loved him.
Calling Hours for Bert will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 3, from 4-7pm at Nowak Funeral Home, 15 Ludlow Ave. His funeral will be on Wednesday, Oct. 4, 10am from the funeral home followed by a Funeral Mass in Immaculate Conception Church at 11am, and burial with military honors at St. Aloysius Cemetery.
