Stella Pierce (1928-2021) –
Stella Pierce died Tuesday, March 16, at Concordia of Fox Chapel in Cheswick, PA. She was born in Wilbraham, daughter of Agatha and Walter Olszewski. She held a bachelor's degree from American International College. She taught in South Hadley High School before joining the faculty of Ludlow High School. She served as chairwoman of the Business Department for much of her tenure. She leaves son Matthew and daughter-in-law Mairi, of Pittsburgh, PA; son Jonathan, daughter-in law Michelle, and grandsons Henry and Carl of North Richland Hills, TX; niece Christine Iwanicki; niece Maryann Fitzhugh, her husband Charles Fitzhugh, and their daughters Rebecca and Sara. She was predeceased by her husband of 42 years, Robert, and sister Anna Iwanicki. Stella loved cooking, gardening, the theater, the Red Sox, and doting over her grandsons. For many years, she was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church in Indian Orchard.
Visiting hours will be held Thursday, March 25, 2021 at Nowak Funeral and Cremation Services, 15 Ludlow Avenue, Springfield from 4 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Friday, March 26, 2021 at 9am, with a private burial at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam.
