Stephen Edward Brennan, 76, passed away October 16, 2024 at Baystate Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Born in Springfield on March 6, 1948 he was 1 of 10 children of the late Edward J. and Dorothy (Peterson) Brennan. A lifelong Springfield resident, he was a 1966 graduate of Trade High School. Stephen served honorably for 4 years in the U.S. Coast Guard during Vietnam, earning a Good Conduct Medal. He worked as a machinist for many years, most recently at Industrial Precision. Stephen was a quiet hard worker with an extremely strong work ethic. He was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan, never missing an opportunity to watch a game with his favorite teams. In his younger years, he enjoyed working on cars with his brothers. Family was most important. He was always there to cheer on his children and grandchildren at their sporting events, especially soccer.
He leaves his wife of 56 years, Sadie (Larrabee) Brennan; his children, Stephanie Stuetzel and her husband Christian of Feeding Hills, Scott Brennan and his wife Carol of Wilbraham, Sheila Brennan of Springfield, and Susan Brennan-Afonso and her husband Vasco of Springfield; his grandchildren, McKenzie, Alexandria, Catharine, Kelsey, David, Isabel, Wilberto Jr., Molly, and Jack; his siblings, Edward “Mike” Brennan and his wife Sylvia of Ludlow, James “Terry” Brennan and his wife Marcy of Wilbraham, Debbie Staples and her husband James of Springfield, Paul Brennan of Westfield, and John Brennan and his wife Deborah of Wilbraham. He also leaves numerous nieces and nephews, other extended family members and many friends. He was predeceased by his parents, a granddaughter Elizabeth, and siblings Robert “Bob” Brennan, Thomas Brennan, Margaret “Peggy” Turner, and Nancy Bousquet.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 from 4-7pm at Nowak Funeral & Cremation Services, 15 Ludlow Ave., Springfield, Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2024 from 11am-12pm at the funeral home followed by burial with military honors at 1pm at the MA Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St., Agawam.
