Theodore J. Chmura, Sr.

Theodore Joseph Chmura, Sr., 93, passed away January 31, 2022 at home. Born in Wilbraham on May 23, 1928 to the late Jan Chmura and Mary (Gasiorek) Chmura, he was a lifelong area resident and a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church in Indian Orchard. Ted worked for Indian Motorcycle and then continued a 30 year career at Monsanto from where he retired. He was an outgoing person who made friends easily wherever he went. A skilled tradesman and “Jack-of-all-trades”, he could often be found helping family and friends on various projects. He enjoyed long car rides, especially with his late wife, travelling locally and throughout New England. Ted was proud of his Polish heritage and enjoyed Polish food and music.

He leaves his son Theodore J. Chmura, Jr. and his wife Akiko of Somers, CT; his dedicated and superb caretakers- his special niece and her husband, Maryann and Mark Vecchiarelli of Ludlow- along with many other nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Gertrude V. (Nowak) Chmura and his siblings, Mitchell, Joseph, Stanley, Jean, and Helen.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, February 7, 2022 from 4-7pm at Nowak Funeral & Cremation Services, 15 Ludlow Ave., Indian Orchard. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 8, 2022 assembling at the funeral home at 8:30am and proceeding to Immaculate Conception Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30am. Burial will follow at Island Pond Cemetery, Ludlow.
