Thompson “Tom” C. Hooper, 77, of Springfield, passed on to meet his savior November 1, 2024 at Agawam South Rehabilitation and Nursing. Born in Springfield on Dec. 10, 1946, he was the son of the late Clarence and Viola (Macri) Hooper. Tom was a graduate of the former Technical High School in Springfield, and then served in the U. S. Navy for 3 years during the Vietnam War.
He worked as a barber and hair stylist for more than 50 years. A member of the Bethlehem Church, he was also an avid tennis player, and enjoyed playing pool with his friend, Marty. Singing was Tom’s passion. He loved performing karaoke and choir participation.
He is survived by his wife of nine years, Patricia L. Hooper, a son, Patrick Hooper and wife Karen of Enfield, CT, his step-sons, Paul Cincotta and wife Maureen of Vernon, CT, Daniel Cincotta of Manchester, CT and Mathew Cincotta and wife Paula of Springfield, a step-daughter, Dawn Cincotta of Springfield, his sisters, Debra Hooper and fiancé Daniel Albano of Southwick, and Barbara Discawicz of Port Orange, FL, as well as six step-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren, two nephews, Mark Discawicz and wife Judith, and Michael Discawicz, two nieces, Michelle Tomlinson and husband Robert and Vanessa Roy-LaRouco and husband Justin, and his good friends, Martin and Kathleen Batt of Springfield.
Tom was pre-deceased by his brother-in-law, James Discawicz and his fur babies, Sammy & Missy.
Funeral Services for Tom will be held on Friday, Nov. 8, with Calling Hours from 10am-12noon at Nowak Funeral & Cremation Services, 15 Ludlow Ave., Springfield, followed by a Funeral Service in the funeral home at 12noon, officiated by Pastor Darrin Ray. Committal Services with Military Honors will follow in the MA Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Agawam at 2pm.
