Vera B. (Boutilier) Jones, 101, of Holyoke, died at home on Saturday, June 19, 2021. Born in the Leeds section of Northampton on Nov. 12, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Alfred & Agnes (Jones) Boutilier. Vera was a 1938 graduate of South Hadley High School. She worked at the Springfield Armory during WW II, and later for 20 years as a telephone operator for the former New England Telephone.
The wife of the late Gilbert D. Jones who died in 1990, she is survived by her two sons, Gilbert R. Jones and his wife Connie of Springfield, and Calvin D. Jones and his wife Margaret Kane of East Longmeadow, as well as four grandchildren, Jaime Mersincavage, Kelly Fydenkevez, Joseph Bragdon and Kate Rea, ten great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren. Vera was the sister of the late Leonard Boutilier, Dorothy Watson, Ronald C. Boutilier and Wallace Boutilier.
Calling Hours for Vera will be on Tuesday, June 29, from 10am-12noon at Nowak Funeral & Cremation Services, 15 Ludlow Ave., Springfield with a service to follow in the funeral home at 12noon. Burial will be held privately by the family at a later date.
