Virginia M. Shadbegian (Gunn)-Hart passed peacefully at home on May 4, 2020, surrounded by her family. Virginia was born January, 25, 1931 in Van Buren, Indiana to Charles and Hazel Gunn (Wilson). She was predeceased by her husband of many years, Simon G. Shadbegian. She was also predeceased by her late husband Marshall Hart. She will be missed by her daughter Susan E. O’Donnell and her husband Tom of Dorchester, MA, predeceased by her son 2nd Lt Mark D. Shadbegian pilot USAF, graduate of the USAF Academy and son Eric Paul and Debra A. Shadbegian of Wilbraham, MA. Virginia will be dearly missed by her grandchildren Mark and Rory O’Donnell and Peter Noel Shadbegian. Virginia loved her grandchildren and watching them grow up.
She worked at Springfield College for many years in the Sports Information Dept where she enjoyed walking the track during her lunch. Virginia was a very active member of Trinity United Methodist since moving to Springfield. She leaves many dear friends from Trinity. Virginia enjoyed walking, collecting Santa Clauses, antiquing, collecting souvenir spoons, playing golf and cookouts at Eric and Debra’s home. Virginia also enjoyed traveling the world which included Europe, Russia, Jerusalem, Egypt, Australia, New Zealand and in 1994 she attended the Passion Play in Oberammergau, Bavaria.
Virginia’s family would like to express their gratitude to Nicole Conner of Conner Care who was Virginia’s angel. Virginia’s family would also like to thank Hospice for all of their comfort and support during this difficult time.
A memorial service and celebration of life will be scheduled at later date at Trinity United Methodist.
