Walter Danek Obituary

Walter Joseph Danek, 55, passed away unexpectedly on January 17, 2025 at Baystate Medical Center. He was born in Springfield on July 9, 1969 to Johanna (Russ) Danek and the late John Danek. Walter grew up in Indian Orchard, graduating in 1987 from Putnam High School and had lived in Ludlow for many years. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1987-1990. For 17 years, he worked at Titeflex and for the past 17 years, he worked as a Research and Development Technician for Olympic Manufacturing. He was a past member of the Shriners and Masonic Lodge. Walter had a natural talent for fixing things, and in his younger years, he enjoyed building models. Walter had a remarkable ability to connect with others. He was outgoing, approachable, and truly a friend to everyone he met.

He leaves his wife, Michelle (Dearborn) Danek; his daughter, Ashlee Cote of Ludlow; his mother, Johanna Danek of Indian Orchard; his brother, David Danek of Ludlow; his grandson, Kayden Mancusso of Ludlow; his nieces, Christine Danek of Indian Orchard and Karlene Danek of Ludlow; his great-nieces Abagail and Rosalie LaBel and his uncles and aunts, Joseph and Donna Danek of Ludlow and Michael and Connie Danek of Agawam and Scott Simpson of Indian Orchard. Walter also leaves other extended family members and many close friends, including Gary and Terry Moreau of Ludlow, James and Debra Taylor of Indian Orchard, and Michael “Red” Ballard of Springfield. He was predeceased by his father and his sister-in-law, Nicole Danek and his aunt, Helen Simpson.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025 from 11am-2pm at Nowak Funeral & Cremation Services, 15 Ludlow Ave., Springfield followed by a Celebration of Walter’s Life at 2pm and the rendering of military honors.
