Agnes (Melewski) Sokolowski

Agnes (Melewski) Sokolowski, 93, died at home on Monday, July 25, 2016. Born in Poland on Sept. 27, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Boleslaw and Anna (Sokolowski) Melewski. Agnes lived in Holyoke prior to moving to Indian Orchard more than 30 years ago. She previously worked as a machine operator for the National Blank Book in Holyoke, and had been a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Indian Orchard. Agnes was the wife of the late Stanley Sokolowski, the mother-in-law of the late Walter Gasiewski and the grandmother of the late Jesse Gasiewski. She is survived by a son, Wesley Sokolowski of Ludlow; a daughter, Christine Gasiewski of Chicopee; two brothers, Boleslaw and Normand Melewski and four sisters, Janina Olshefska, Stella Zelewska, Sophia Slesinka and Barbara Zelewska all of Poland. She is also survived by six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral Services for Agnes will be on Thursday, July 28 at 10am from Nowak Funeral & Cremation Services, 15 Ludlow Ave., Indian Orchard followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at Immaculate Conception Church, 25 Parker St., Indian Orchard at 11am. Burial will follow at Mater Dolorosa Cemetery, South Hadley. Calling Hours will be on Wednesday, July 27, from 5-8pm at the funeral home.
